Committee
Conferences take place three times a year at various training institutions around the country. Decisions and policy is generally decided at these. Between conferences the standing committee are responsible for the continuing work of AOCM. You can contact us using the Contact page.
Chair - for 2009/2010 - is Rob Parker McGee, Mirfield
“The Chair shall chair all committee meetings and represent the Association at Ministry Division.”
In practice, this means communicating (through the Secretary) with the AOCM Reps, attending and chairing the committee. The Chair finalises the content of committee meeting agendas, and for being a point of contact for those outside AOCM. The Chair also edits the annual AOCM Handbook - inviting articles from contributors and liaising with printers.
Secretary - for 2009-2010 - is Catherine Shelley, Westcott
“The secretary shall keep the minutes of the committee meetings. He/She shall arrange matters concerning the committee under the supervision of the Chair. In the absence of the Chair, he/she shall take the chair at committee meetings”
In practice, this means attending and taking minutes at AOCM committee. It means sending out agendas for those meetings to all Representatives and minutes for those meetings following the meeting. Other administrative work, such as despatching AOCM handbooks, often falls to the Secretary. The Secretary maintains AOCM’s address and contact lists as well.
Treasurer - for 2009-2010 - is Patrick Egglestone, Mirfield
“The Treasurer shall administer the monies of the Association and report to each meeting of the committee the current financial position; keep good record of all transactions; prepare Annual Accounts; arrange for the Annual Accounts to be audited and submitted to the committee at the Lent meeting.”
In practice, this means being one of the signatories on the AOCM bank accounts, keeping all financial records (including cheque books and bank statements), and taking responsibility for ensuring that the AOCM finances are in good order. Each training institution will need invoicing for its subscription in the Autumn, and records keeping of who has paid. It also involves preparing a summary of accounts, and finding an independent examiner for these. Finally, all liaison with the bank, and the payment of any expenses falls to the Treasurer, for which they need to be present at AOCM committee and Standing Committee meetings to pay travel expenses.
