The Saint George’s Trust
A little background to the trust
The Saint George’s Trust was set up in 1924 with representatives drawn from The Guild of Saint Alban the Martyr, The Community of the Resurrection and The Society of Saint John the Evangelist.
In 2006 the trusteeship was transferred to The Fellowship of Saint John (UK) Trust Association, and, in consultation with The Charity Commission, guidelines were drawn up to distinguish applications to The Saint George’s Trust from the other charities which FSJ (UK) TA administers; the trustees, however, ensure not only that an application is directed towards the appropriate charity but also, in the case of The Saint George’s Trust, applications are considered immediately upon receipt.
The purpose of the trust
The Trust awards small grants to members of the Church of England who are planning a special project or trip, e.g. clergy on sabbatical or young folk undertaking voluntary work. Certain areas, such as buildings or education fees, are excluded from the scope of the Trust.
