AOCM Day of Worship and Reflection, February 2002

On 2nd February 2002 AOCM held a Day of Prayer and Reflection in Birmingham Cathedral.

Message from the Chairman of AOCM

“The AOCM Day of Worship & Reflection has all the makings of a very special occasion. Ordinands will be coming from as far as Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We have an excellent range of speakers and a great opportunity to hear them discuss together the issues that face us as a Church. Where else are you going to hear Archbishop Rowan Williams and Nicky Gumbel, or Fr. David Houlding SSC and Christina Rees on the same platform? We have received letters of support and blessings from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. Archbishop Hope puts the aim of the day well when he writes, “I hope the day will provide you all with the opportunity to learn from each other, as you come to recognise in a deeper and richer way the one ministry and one mission to which you have been called.”

We encourage you to be resourceful in planning for this event. Some colleges and courses have already booked coaches and are in the process of organising facilities for child-care at their colleges or centres. Please do consider co-ordinating travel where possible with other local training organisations on a college/course/scheme basis. Even if your course or scheme is unable to come in large numbers, please do send some representation.

Finally, please pray for the event, be prepared for the day. Come with sense of pilgrimage, for we are certainly going to be in movement during the day as we travel between venues and celebrate in worship. Come with an open heart and an eagerness to re-dedicate ourselves to our common vocation.”

Yours in Christ
Richard Fermer

A unique event that, for the very first time, brings together ordinands training for ministry. A plenary will provide for a lively and exciting exchange of ideas from a range of speakers representing diverse traditions within the Anglican church. Although a frank debate is expected on the changing face of the church, the aim of the day is to promote a call to One Mission, One Ministry.
